Dr. Wright Jernigan

Dr. Wright Jernigan was first appointed to fill the School Board seat vacated by Mr. Tracy Bruff's resignation, and was elected to his current seat in 2008.

Dr. Jernigan, a Union City High School alumnus, returned home in 2006 to establish a surgical  practice. He and his wife, Samantha, are the parents of three sons who are students in Union City Schools.

He attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where he was a three-year letterman on the track team.  He earned his medical degree at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine at Memphis in 1998 and completed his general surgical training in 2005 and vascular surgery training in 2006.

Dr. Jernigan serves as a para-professional coach for the high school track team, a volunteer coach for the Union City Junior Tornado football team, and he  and his family are active members of the Second Baptist Church.
